Mushroom Foraging

Mushroom foraging has been one of my family's exciting activity that it did make our childhood great and most of all fun. The exercise  that was passed on from generation to generation. Exploring nature while gathering wild mushrooms.

Wild Mushrroms

But foraging for wild mushrooms can be dangerous. It can turn deadly if you're unsure how to tell the toxic varieties from the edible kind.

Those are my recommendations: Know what you're picking - edible mushrooms can be confused with poisonous ones. Mushroom identification takes skill and practice.

Do not pull the mushrooms up by the roots; cut them to encourage a new grow.

Make sure you’re leaving the area as it was so things can regrow.

***Never consume a wild plant or fungus unless you are absolutely certain of its identification ***

There are many non-edible mushrooms that contain potent toxins.

I will try to contribute with my Blog showing some poisonous mushrooms that resemble edible ones as I am identifying them.
Milkcaps - Poisonous

Commonly known as Milkcaps - Lactarius Torminosusit is pale salmon in color cap and has milky fluid if cut. The gills have a creamy white someties with a hint of pink. This is a damaged poisonous mushroom. Can be confused with L. Deliciousus our favourite known as the Saffron Milk Cap and Red Pine mushroom.

Poisonous mushrooms

I went for a walk yesterday and found those pretty looking mushrooms. Normally I just concentrate to the mushroom I really know so I decided to take a nice picture of it to find more information.

Those are pics from the same fungi in different maturity:

Well, I found out they are Known as the Sulphur Tuft, Sulfur Tuft or clustered woodlover. A very common mushroom you'll see grows in dense clusters in various habitats but is commonly found in Killinthomas Wood.

So regularly spotted possess other distinguishing features aside from the fact that they are lurid yellow …

The Sulphur Tuft is highly toxic, POISONOUS!

Protect your children and dogs from mushroom poisoning.
